Cash transactions display erroneous item information: barcode, call number, etc.

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
We are seeing incorrect item information attached to bib records when viewing cash records. This is not a problem in the OPAC, just when cash transactions are involved.

For Example: a student has an overdue entitled "All you need to know about the IRS". (The barcode is 33111000120036). Note that the information regarding Call No. and the categories below actually belong to another title, "Not Working: An oral History of the Unemployed" which has a barcode number of 33111000119921!

The GUI – Cash Details window – Item tab also displays erroneous barcode, call#, etc.

    Resolution:
The cash item information is from the time of loan, not the time of the cash transaction.

As can be seen in the Item Changes tab (and in the Z30H records), there was an item change on October 31, 2005, which changed the barcode, call#, etc. The system is using the pre-10/31/2005 item information since the loan occurred before that time.

This was apparently some kind of conversion problem, with the loans occurring before the time the site converted to ALEPH.

Note: Z30H records which cause problems of this sort can be deleted using SQL without any negative consequences to the system.
