    Description:
We are starting to import OCLC records in UTF8 and two of our staff have pointed out that the Aleph client does not render certain scripts as expected. Namely these are the four non-MARC8 scripts that OCLC has implemented: Devanagari, Tamil, Bengali and Thai. They render properly in the browser. In the client they primarily appear in what I think is called their "nominal glyph" form as in the Unicode charts, with the exception that some characters do not visually appear at all, such as the Devanagari dependent vowel e (U+0947).

Do have you any explanation/instruction that we can provide to our library staff on why the scripts render differently in the client than in the browser? What can we do about the characters that aren't displaying?

OCLC # 237183275 is an example Devanagari record. See the vernacular of the first title word "sreshtha."

    [Later:]

We find that, though certain PC's have this problem, other PC's do not. (They get the correct display of the characters.)

    Resolution:
[From site:] The only difference between PC's was the version of MS Office. Please close the ticket and if necessary we'll submit a new one at a later time.
