    Description

Why doesn't the command "cd $pds_root" work?

    Resolution

There is no $pds_root variable defined in aleph. The "pdsroot" command is what takes you to the $aleph_dev/pds directory.  This happens because of the following line in the delivered $alephm_dev/alephm/prof_master file:

            alias pdsroot     'cd $aleph_dev/pds'
