Course Reserves Functionality in Multi-ADM Environment

    • Article Type: General

    Description:
Does course reserve functionality across more than one ADM require more than one Reserves Library?

We recently added a second ADM, ABC51. All the bibs for this ADM are in ABC01, but we realize that Course Headers are stored in the ADM Library. Does this mean that we will need an ABC31 to process reserves for items from ABC51, or can the expands that draw on Course Info pull from more than one ADM?

According to the Systems Librarians Guide (Reserve Chapter, p. 6): "In a multi ADM-library environment, the course reading library will only show items of the related ADM library."

However, our configuration seems to have multiple entries for this line:
    CRS ABC50 ABC30
    CRS ABC51 ABC30

    Is this valid?

    Resolution:
Although it may be that the ABC51 ADM could share the ABC30 Course library with ABC50, we do not know of any site actually using such a configuration. There could be unanticipated problems.

We recommend creating an ABC31 library.

The ABC51/ABC31 is a more certain configuration.
