Delivery of Booked Items Does Not Turn Booking Into Loan

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We have discovered a problem with two items that were booked and delivered on separate days.

The workflow is to print p_cir_07 to obtain a report of booked items that need to be pulled from the stacks and delivered; scan each item to review the booking request; and click on the "Deliver" button to loan the item to the requester and print delivery-slip-00.

Two items continued to have outstanding booking requests for the same time period even though they were loaned, and it's not possible to place two bookings on the same item for the same time period. We checked Z35 to see how the system logged the transactions and got this:

    Z35_REC_K event type Z35_EVENT_DATE Z35_EVENT_HOUR
    --------- ---------- -------------- --------------
    001424393 91 20080122 1024
    001424393 50 20080122 1024
    001141813 91 20080124 1019
    001141813 50 20080124 1019

It looks like the system processed both a simple loan and booking turned into loan at the exact same time. Any idea how this might have happened?

    Resolution:
After further investigation, these two items each had two booking requests from the same faculty members: one booking was for January and another one was for later in the Spring Semester.
Staff must have highlighted the wrong booking request when delivering the item (we were able to prove this when the item with its delivery slip was returned.)
