Question
Is there is any documentation on virtualizing one's ALEPH environment?

Answer
In the Documentation Center, under Cross Products, there is a Virtualization folder with a document describing best practices for setting up the virtual environment for Exl Libris products.

If the environment is virtualized, there is need to make sure that the virtual servers have the resources reserved (hard allocation).

If you want to run with VMware, most VMware licenses only support 4 cores for each virtual guest so it will be a bit problematic. [This was as of 2011 and may have changed.]

If you get the VMware Enterprise+ license then your system will support virtual guest with up to 8 cores and then we can split the below to a 2 tier topology (app and DB).
