GUI installation stalls with "skipping file: c:windowssystemfix_egpt.fon"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
This is similar to KB# 16384-7617, but that solution doesn't apply.

I can install the v19 GUI (downloaded from our newly upgraded test server) on 1 PC with no problem. On another, it repeatedly stops at 85% done with the message "skipping file: c:\windows\system\fix_egpt.fon". It had earlier hung at installation of every CarBarX.ttf file. I finally copied all the CarBarX.ttf files from the 1st PC to the 2nd to complete the installation on the 2nd. The fix_egpt.fon file exists in c\windows
\system on both machines. When I removed it from the 2nd, the gui installer replaced it, then hung.

These are both WindowsXP machines and I have admin rights on both. I'm not sure how to get around this.

    Resolution:
Turns out I had a problem on only 1 of 25 PCs. I resolved it by a) letting it do the partial install, b) copying into \windows\system the 27 fonts Aleph seems to want (CarBar1.ttf - CarBar24.ttf, fix_a.fon, fix_egpt.fon, and xlfixh.fon) from another PC, and c) copying a successful GUI installation from another PC right on top of the failed one.
