    Global change of vendor code

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
We have a library that, in the past, used 2 different prefixes for their vendor codes:
    CO for monographic orders and
    CP for Serial orders.

They have now decided that they want to use only the CO prefix and would like to do global changes that would change the CP codes to CO codes. I have identified three z tables where these codes are found, Z68, z69 and z16.

Would this be possible using SQL? Would there be some unforeseen problems created by such changes using SQL?

    Resolution:
The p_acq_26 GUI Service can be used to change vendor codes. Please review the Help for this service and see if it will meet your needs.

If not, then you could do this with SQL....

As can be seen from the "ALEPH File Relationship Diagrams" (attached), the vendor code also appears in the following tables: z75, z77, z601, z72.

And the z79 and z111 index tables. These latter two could either be changed with SQL -- or regenerated using p_acq_04 and p_manage_111, respectively.
