How to *undo* Parallel Indexing (so indexes are built in Source library)

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
We have run parallel indexing on our Test server in the past.

Now we want to *undo* Parallel Indexing (so the indexes are built in Source library instead of the Parallel library).

    How would we do this?

    Resolution:
As you can see in the "Parallel Indexing" document, Parallel Indexing involves putting "LS"es to the parallel library in the source library file_list for the index tables which are to be built, and then running util a/17/5/2 to build the synonyms.

    *Un*doing parallel indexing involves:

    1. removing the LSes for the relevant index tables from the source library file_list and uncommenting the TAB and IND entries for the same;

    2. running util a/17/5/2 (to remove the synonyms); and then, of course,

    3. running the indexing job(s) in the source library

I see that both 1 and 2 above have already been done in xxx01: util a/17/5/1 in xxx01 shows that there are no active synonyms.

[The following should be done to completely remove the parallel library if it's not going to be used in the future either.]

    4.  Remove references to the library from $alephe_root/aleph_start.private [note: the Aleph2Alma extract *requires* these two removals] :
     setenv    xxx01_dev
     setenv    ALEPH_LIBS ... xxx01

    Then restart aleph.

    5. Remove references from $alephe_tab/library_relation  [note: the Aleph2Alma extract *requires* these removals]

    6. Remove references from $alephe_tab/tab_base.eng

    7. Remove the library from /exlibris/aleph/u2n_n
