    Desired Outcome Goal:
When saving a set of records from the WWW OPAC, Aleph uses by default the extension SAV. We would like to use the extension TXT. How can we achieve this?

    Procedure:
    1. Edit $alephe_tab/tab_mime_type.
Enter every format that should not get the sav extension but the txt extension instead, for example:

    999 txt
    040 txt
    037 txt
    001 txt
    002 txt

    2. Perform the following changes in the file $httpd_root/conf/mime.types:

    a. Replace the line

    text/plain asc txt

    with

    text/plain asc

    b. Replace the line

    text/aleph_save sav

    with

    text/aleph_save txt

    Additional Information

Important note: Some internet browsers display TXT files directly in the browser, instead of showing a dialog where you can choose to download and save the file. For example in Microsoft Internet Explorer this is the system behavior. That is the reason why Ex Libris chose the SAV extension instead of TXT in the first place.
