How to configure PDS on Oracle

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

Have multiple active/active PDS instances connected to the same Oracle DB which stores configuration and sessions.

    Resolution

    1. In the 1st active server, load the PDS configuration to the DB and connect PDS to Oracle using the script /exlibris/aleph/a20_1/pds/program/pds_upgrade_kit

    2. In all other active servers, run only step 3 of the same script in order to connect PDS to Oracle (since the configuration is already loaded).
This will update the /exlibris/aleph/a20_1/pds/program/PDSDefinitions file with use_oracle to Y

    3. Test...

    4. If you want to perform corrections to the configuration, you must use the PDS wizard which can be accessed from the Primo BO -> Ongoing Configuration or from <pds_url>/pdsadmin

    5. You can also see all the configuration and sessions data which stored in the PDS Oracle schema which will be created.

    Additional Information

Configure this first on a test environment to make sure all login scenarios work correctly before performing it on production.
It is always possible to rollback to disk mode by changing the use_oracle to N in the PDSDefinitions file.
Note that changes performed via the wizard in Oracle mode are not updating the file system configuration under conf_table.
