How to limit patrons to only one title request per title

    Description:
How can we limit the number of title requests so that one person can make only one active title request per the specific title?

We have z305_multi_hold ("whether or not the patron may place more than one hold request for the same item -- and like items") set to "N".

    Resolution:
The check which prevents the patron from placing multiple holds on the same item is check_hold_request_f -- which checks if z305_multi_hold is set and, if so, does not permit a hold on the same item.

It seemed that perhaps "TITLE-REQ check_hold_request_f" should prevent the placement of multiple title requests on the same title in the same fashion, but, in fact, though it will prevent multiple holds on items for the same BIB record, it will not prevent holds on items for *different* BIB records (which occurs when the site uses Union View and the BIB records are linked via the z120).

Thus, if 4 BIB records are part of a Title request, the system will permit the patron to place up to 4 requests for the title (for 1 item for each BIB record). This can be seen in the z370_hold_list field.

It seems that the only choice is to make this an enhancement request.
