How to set up "Version Check on Reboot".

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
When I installed my GUI I did not click the option "Version Check on Reboot".
Now I want this changed, and do want the version of the GUI to be checked every time I reboot the PC.
    How can I change this?

    Resolution:
The information in this KB entry applies to versions prior to v.18. In v.18, the version.exe program was replaced by verutil.exe, which is not directly executable. For later versions, see KB 8192-3031 and others.

By default, when you choose "Version Check on Reboot" during installation, a shortcut is made from
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (for Windows XP and Windows 2000)
    to
    C:\AL500\alephcom\bin\version.exe

If you want the version check to be activated you can create a link from
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    to
    C:\AL500\alephcom\bin\version.exe

For additional information contact your institution's PC system administrator.
It may be the case that there are specific differences between your institution's setup and the default.

The main point is that you want to activate C:\AL500\alephcom\bin\version.exe when the PC is rebooted.
