    Is our disk space enough for reindexing?

    We are preparing a global reindexation of Aleph for Thursday night and worry if current allocated disk space will be sufficient.

    Here's the disk space available for Aleph (server ANAXAGORE):

    Please note that 'achives' will stay 'on' during this process but these files reside on a separate mount point '/bkp_ora' that has plenty of space.

    Resolution:
    Unless you have made changes to the abc01 tab11_word or tab11_acc which will result in significantly larger Word or ACC indexes, reindexing should not result in an increase in the need for Oracle space. (Plus, the PLINE /exlibris1 has plenty of space available even if there were a significant increase.)

    The other consideration is work space. "select count(*) from z00;" for abc01 shows that you have 1.1 million bib records. In section 5 of the "How To Run Index Jobs" document, we describe a run of p_manage_01 for 1.5 million bib records which took 30-38 gig of work space. UTIL-A-17-11-2 for the abc01 z95, z97, and z98 tables show that the size of these table is not excessive in relation to number of bib records.

    Thus, the 92 gig. of space in the /exlibris directory should be much more than enough for the uqm01 p_manage_01 -- which is the index job with the largest space requirements.
