Names appear interspersed with call numbers in "ALL Call numbers" Browse

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
In the GUI "ALL Call numbers" Browse, names appear interspersed with the call numbers.

    Cause:
Inclusion of professors' copies, with the professor's name as the z30_call_no and "0" as the z30_call_no_type.

    Resolution:
Change the z30_call_no_type of these items from "0" to "6" (or some other z30_call_no_type) and omit that type from the "ALL" index.

    Additional Information

    Site's specific case:

Between 'BD1112 Y11.2005' and 'BF1 A38', there are names (beginning with "BE...") instead of call numbers.

    Analysis:

The "ALL Call numbers" index is built from the LOC fields: the xxx01 tab11_ind has the following line:

    LOC# ALL hi

And the xxx01 z11 shows the following:

    xxx01@ALEPH20> select z11_rec_key from z11 where z11_rec_key like 'ALL bea%';

    Z11_REC_KEY

The name has been placed in the item's z30_call_no field. From xxx01 util f/4 (for doc # 90045):

    Reading 000090045:

    PST0 L $$0Z30$$1000016558000010$$bMAIN$$cRBRT$$oMONO$$d03$$fY$$rXXX60-000190955$$n0$$hBeaudry, Raymond$$3Book$$4Main Library$$5Reserve Room $$6Reserve

    and the xxx50 util f/4: (for z30):

    02 z30_rec_key
    03 doc_number ................000016558 <---
    03 item_sequence .............000010
    02 z30_barcode .................R01710307
    02 z30_sub_library .............RIRB
    02 z30_material ................MONO
    02 z30_item_status .............03

    02 z30_call_no_type ............0
    02 z30_call_no .................Beaudry, Raymond <---
    <etc.>

Rather than giving these "call number"s a z30_call_no_type of "0" ("Library of Congress classification"), give them a type of "6" (Shelved separately), and then do this in tab11_ind:

    LOC0# ALL hi
    LOC1# ALL hi
    LOC2# ALL hi
    LOC3# ALL hi
    LOC4# ALL hi
    LOC5# ALL hi
    LOC7# ALL hi
    LOC8# ALL hi
    LOC9# ALL hi

that is, include all LOC fields in the "ALL" index except those with first indicator "6".
