    Description:
After rebooting, our OPAC has reverted to the generic "USM" OPAC screen and our GUI staff log-ins are not being accepted.

    Resolution:
    Do the following commands:

    echo $usr_library
    echo $pw_library

In this case, the response was "USR00": the $alephe_tab/aleph_start file had been accidentally replaced by a version with USR00 as the usr_library and pw_library:
    setenv usr_library USR00
    setenv pw_library USR00

Restoring a version with their ABC50 as the usr_library and pw_library, doing "source aleph_start", and then aleph_shutdown / aleph_startup corrected the problem.

If the "echo" has the correct values for your site, and the problem is just with the OPAC screens, check the z61 with the key "ALEPH" to see if its z61_base has accidentally been changed to "USM01". (The "ALEPH" profile is what the OPAC uses when the user is not logged in.)
