    Oracle shuts down with "Instance terminated by PMON"

    Problem Symptoms:
    Oracle shuts down. The Oracle Alert Log shows "DBWR process terminated with error" and "Instance terminated by PMON". (See Additional information below for complete log entry text....)

    Cause:
    Machine running out of memory, killing Oracle.

    Resolution:
    Upgrading the machine from:

    4 CPU
    16G RAM
    8G SWAP

    to:

    8 CPU
    32G RAM
    32G SWAP

    corrected the problem.
