    PLIF Loader ID-VERIFICATION problem?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
We have recently changed its passwords for users from numeric 5-digit PINs to 8 to 14 character alpha-numeric passwords. When we use the PLIF loader to replace the old PIN numbers in Z308 with the new passwords, patrons can no longer access their library accounts. When we use the Circ client to update a user's ID-Verification to the new password, the patron is able to access his account with no problems. We have examined the PLIF file that is loaded using p_file_20, and everything is in order at the correct offsets. We have changed nothing about how we compile and load the PLIF. The only thing that has changed is that the ID-verification field went from 5-digit numeric to 8-14 alpha-numeric. Please let us know if this is a problem with the loader. Thanks a lot.

    Resolution:
A comparison of util f/4 for the z308 type 02 shows that before online update (when it is not working), the z308_verification is in lowercase, whereas after update, it's in all uppercase.*Any* letters in the ID-VERIFICATION (or USER-REC-VERIFICATION-1) need to be in uppercase. (I have added this fact to the PLIF document.)
