- Article Type: General
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 20
Description:
Problem Description: “About to expire” message appears although not set to do so in $alephe_tab/tab100
Actual Results:
With PW-EXPIRY-WARNING not set
and PASSWORD-CHANGE-PERIOD=090 in $alephe_tab/tab100
the follow message appears
Your password is about to expire, please take the time to change it.
at some unknown point in time prior to the expiry of the patron account..
In the example the last change to the record was 04-20-2010 so 90 days from then is July 19th, 5 days from the date of this scenario
Expected Results: The default value is 00 so this message should not appear
# PW-EXPIRY-WARNING
!# Values: Default: 00
!# Type: Text; Max Length: 02
!# tab100 of library: No; tab100_<server_type>: No.
!
! Defines how many days before expiration, the user
! will get a warning when logging into the system.
Resolution:
The Tab100 variable PASSWORD-CHANGE-PERIOD determines how often the staff user must change the password.
For example, if it is set to “090”, the password must be changed every 90 days.
The message "Your password is about to expire, please take the time to change it" starts to display fifteen days before it’s time to change the password. The 15 days is hard-coded. It is not configurable.
The Tab100 variable PW-EXPIRY-WARNING has a different purpose.
It defines how many days before the user’s login *expiration date* (Z66-EXPIRY-DATE) the user gets the following warning message:
"Your login authorization will expire on: [expiry date]"
