    Placement of character conversion line in server tables

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
    If the character conversion line in a table on server is placed as part of a header then it will be replaced when the header is replaced (UTIL H).

    Resolution:
    The character conversion line, such as CHARACTER_CONVERSION=8859_8_TO_UTF should always be placed after the table header and not as part of the table header. If it is part of the table header then it will (correctly) be replaced with the rest of the header when UTIL H is invoked, either manually or automatically via service pack.
    The character conversion line should thus go after the header and before the actual data of the table.
    Here is a correct example from tab15.lng:

    ! COL 15. 2; NUM; ;
    ! Reloaning limit;
    ! Reloaning limit: The value denotes the number of hours during
    ! which the same copy of an item cannot be reloaned to the same patron
    ! counting from the time he returned it. The values "00" or
    ! " " (blanks) should be used for unrestricted reloaning.;
    !
    ! 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 1 1 1 1 1
    ! 0 1 2 3 4 5
    !!!!!-!!-!!-!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!-!!
