Preventing OPAC users from booking items minutes before the time they want them

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
We have been able to configure many aspects of the booking module to our satisfaction, but so far have not found a way to prevent users from booking an item too close to the desired pickup date/time. ideally, staff would like seven days notice.

We have found that not only can one make a booking with a "from date/time" only minutes away, but one can actually schedule a booking in the past.

Do we have to use 'advance booking' and define time slots in order to force users into giving us a week's notice?

    Resolution:
There is a KB record (16384-20465) for the issue of being able to book dates in the past.

I do *not* believe that this addresses the issue of being able to do the booking minutes before the beginning of the period. I believe that will need to be an enhancement request.

It may be that Advance Booking includes this feature (do you see some indication of that?) and that you could switch to using Advance Booking
