Problem searching within logical base (with wsl=asf)

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 15.2

    Description:
When a user searches in our general OPAC for an OCLC number in our 035 ACC index, for example, this works. However, if the user limits the search to the ASF (one of our Partners) logical base, and does the same browse for the OCLC # of the ASF record, the number does not come up in the headings list. We do this all the time and it always works.

    Resolution:
The following line in tab11_word should cause each SBL field to be indexed in WSL:

    SBL## a 01 WSLASF ASF Catalog ABC01 USM01 ABC01 N wsl=asf

But I find that there are cases where this WSL indexing is not occurring properly.

To circumvent this in 15.2, I have made the following change to tab_base.eng:

    Changed:

    ASF ASF Catalog ABC01 USM01 ABC01 N wsl=asf

    To:

    ASF ASF Catalog ABC01 USM01 ABC01 N wsl=asf or own=ASF

With the addition of this "or own=ASF" (and restart of the www_server), 348915 and other ASF records are being retrieved.

This anomaly (-- where the wsl=asf doesn't catch all the ASF records --) should not occur in higher versions. (It may, however, require that you run p_manage_01 in the higher version in order to fix it.)

On the other hand, including the "or own=asf" can't do any harm. You can add this to the tab_base.eng in the higher version as well.
