Process "grep -E /exlibris/.../tmp/..." can't be killed; job daemon running twice
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
- Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care
Description
1) Job daemon process jobd is not always killed from the aleph_shutdown and may run twice after aleph_startup
2) UTIL C 1 may display strange processes:
*** util_c_01 - check ABC01 batch queue ***
19430 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep -E /exlibris/aleph/a22_1/tmp/ABC01 | ABC01
Enter to continue
The problem is caused by a change in grep-command in a recent Red Hat 6 update.
Customers using other OS (as Sun Solaris or CentOS) or older Red Hat versions are not affected.
Ex Libris will provide fixes in upcoming Aleph 21 and 22 Service Packs:
#2644 (SP 21.1.10) (scheduled for Dec 6, 2015) (scheduled for Jan 31, 2016)
#2242 (SP 22.1.4) (scheduled for Dec 6, 2015)
Until the SPs are released, affected customers can implement the workaround.
Workaround
Important:
Only customers running Aleph 21 or 22 on Red Hat 6 should implement the workaround. It is not relevant for Sun Solaris customers or customers using other Red Hat versions.
To implement the workaround:
1) Make a copy of the current version of your aleph_ps-script in $aleph_proc-directory (e.g. /exlibris/aleph/a22_2/aleph/proc):
>cp aleph_ps aleph_ps.save
2) Download the file aleph_ps.gz to $aleph_proc-directory on your Aleph server.
3) Unzip the file:
>gunzip aleph_ps.gz
