    Publication Patterns for Newspapers

We are having problem creating a pattern for daily and weekly journals which have only an issue number without a volume number, or sometimes only a date and no volume or issue number.

Guardian bib 363905: Published Mon-Sat, cover date only (no other numbering). When looking at the descriptions in the Expected Schedule they appear to be OK.

But when we opened the 2005 items, disaster struck. Why is the description so different, and why are they out of order?

Times: Published Mon-Sat, running issue number. The pattern is generating the correct issues, but the description is displaying incorrectly in the Check In (though again it appeared OK in the Expected Schedule).

Why is ^: appearing in the description?

The client used the sorting identifer 00 in tab_z30_sort. However, if you look at the explanation for this code, you will see that it is made for patterns that have subfields i, a, and b. In the example provided, there is no subfield i, which confuses the system.
There are 2 solutions to this problem:
    1. Use a different code in tab_z30_sort, for example 03 or 04
    2. Change the pattern by putting the year, month and day in subfield i, j, and k instead of in a, b, and c. In this case, the items sort correctly.

    Additional Information

daily, weekly, issue without volume number, tab_z30_sort
