    Pushing Couse Reserve item to Cataloging -- how to get to the xxx30 bib record

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
    Normally, when you push an item from the circ client to the catalog client and select the 'overview' display, you can highlight the bib number, hit the 'cataloging' button and pull up the record. this doesn't work when the bib is in xxx30 instead of xxx01. The only way to get to an xxx30 bib seems to be to connect to xxx30 and then type/paste in the record number -- that works, but seems as if it shouldn't be necessary.

    course reading library example:

    bib = 008046688
    adm = 008046688
    item = 31175027732059

    links look ok (util a_03.12)

    ENTER HOME LIBRARY : abc50
    ENTER DOC-NUMBER : 008046688
    ABC30 008050074 ITM
    ABC30 008046689 ITM
    ABC30 008046688 ADM
    END

    ENTER HOME LIBRARY : abc30
    ENTER DOC-NUMBER : 008046688
    ABC50 008046688 ADM
    END

    Resolution:
    We have figured out that the best way to retrieve a bib record when we don't have the course information is:

    -- browse the call number of the abc30 item in the circ client search tab
    -- select the desired record, and use the 'catalog' button to pull up the abc30 bib in the cat client
