Report forms not updating as expected; html.pck incomplete

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
When our Acquisitions manager attempts to print an invoice, she gets the following error message:

XSL file missing acq-full-inv-info 00 english

Comparing the number of files in the .\Alephcom\files\ABC50\PrintTemplates\eng directory on my pc to the files in the html.pck Print Templates Package on the server, I've found that my client has an incomplete set of files: 341 versus 425.

    Resolution:
As described in KB 16384-22961, the creation of subdirectories in the form_eng directory prevents util i/6 from creating a proper html.pck file.

[From site:] I'd created a backup directory in /exlibris/aleph/u20_2/abc01/form_eng for a form I was modifying. Apparently this causes the packing routine to function incorrectly. I removed the directory and all works normally.

We are requesting that this fact be added to the Util Menu Guide document.

    **Diagnosing this problem**

Entering the following command in the .form_eng directory will tell you how many files are in the html.pck:

    > grep -c 'PKC_FILE_BEGIN' html.pck

And this command shows you all of the files in the html.pck *in their actual order* (update-date order, oldest first; *not* alphabetical order):

    > grep 'PKC_FILE_BEGIN' html.pck
