    SERIALS-SEARCH for ISSN not working

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    We find that in the Aleph Acquisitions/Serials module the pull-down for ISSN searching (abc50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field.eng SERIALS-SEARCH ISSN) is not working.

    The error message when we try to do an ISSN search from the pull-down in Acq/Ser is: "Empty ISSN set".

    What is causing this problem and what is the solution? The z11 entries for ISSN look fine, as far as I can tell.

    Cause:
    defect (before Aleph 20, SP 3117), configuration problem

    Resolution:
    [In Aleph 20, with SP 3117 or higher:]

    Problem solved with Aleph 20 rep_change 3267

    [In general:]

    The values you see in the Serial Bar dropdown are coming from the ./xxx50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field.lng SERIAL-SEARCH lines.

    Make sure that you have an "ISSN" index defined.
    {From the ALEPH User Guide: Index name must be an "index code (defined in column 2 of tab00.lng) that is used by the system." }
    If not, you could specify, "BIB-022" as the value in column 4.

    If you are multi-ADM, "ISSN" lets you restrict the results to those for this particular ADM while "BIB-ISSN" or "BIB-022" gets results for this ISSN is *all* ADM's.
