    Settings in Alephcom.ini not clearing the c:/temp/Aleph folder

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
    The machine on which we run the print daemon sends out the notices for the majority of our sublibraries. We're having problems with the temp file getting too big. Below is the settings from that machine's alephcom.ini. It was my understanding that the TempFileCounter=1063 should clear the c:/temp/aleph folder upon restarting the Aleph client. Is that correct? If so, why does the current temp file have files going back to when I manually cleared the file on 8/24 instead of files going back to 8/27 when the machine (and therefore Aleph) was restarted?

    [Print]
    SaveHistoryNumberOfDays=2
    DefaultPrintConfig=0
    TempDir=c:\temp\Aleph
    TempFileCounter=1063
    NewPrintType=N
    PrintoutCounter=659
    PrintoutFileCounter=2175

    Are there other values for the entries above that would clear the temp folder of the printouts?

    Resolution:
    The TempFileCounter parameter in alephcom.ini doesn't play a role in the deletion of temp fils on the PC. It serves as a counter used in file naming to insure unique names.

    The TempDir is cleared automatically when you open the first ALEPH application or start the first ALEPH process. When you open an ALEPH application and there are no other ALEPH applications using the directory, then the directory is cleared. In other words, to clear the directory, you shut down all the ALEPH applications or processes that might be using the temp directory and then start up an ALEPH application or process.
