    Description:
Our plain Dewey call numbers (index DEW) are filing correctly, but our Dewey Call no./Title index (DNT) is incorrect:

    281.9 Aa3ib Beyond the ...
    281.108 So84c v.390 A la louange..

We are currently using filing routine 41 for the DNT. (This is the routine used on our SUDOC no./title index.) It is defined as:

    41 N compress '[]
    41 N to_blank !"()-{};:?./\@*%=^_`~
    41 N comma
    41 N del_subfield_code
    41 N del_lead_space
    41 N char_conv FILING-KEY-10
    41 N to_lower
    41 N pack_spaces
    41 N suppress 88-89,<<>>

    41 F del_subfield
    41 F to_lower
    41 F expand_num
    41 F to_blank &()-[]<>?,^:
    41 F pack_spaces

What do we need to do to make this DNT file properly?

    Resolution:
You need to use exactly the same filing routine for the Dewey Call number/Title index (DNT) that you use for the Dewey call number index (DEW).

(Since the call number is first, the entries need to be sorted correctly by call number. Any of the refinements for title sorting are irrelevant since there is generally going to be just one title for each call number. And even if there are more, they will, generally, be OK.)

KB# 8192-631 has the recommended Dewey tab_filing lines.

Note: The same principle applies to an LC call number/Title index.
