    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Question

Guidelines_for_Aleph_18_01_to_20.x_Upgrade.ppt (Scenario 7) " - Transfer of data on one production server holding Aleph 20 and Aleph21 with Oracle Data Pump
Please confirm, whether the production server will be blocked during the transfer of data using Oracle Data Pump - Test phase

    Answer

When Oracle Data Pump is used to transfer the data from Aleph 18 to Aleph 20 on one server, the database is not blocked (Scenario 7 of document "Guidelines_for_Aleph_18_01_to_20.x_Upgrade.ppt).

    Additional Information

    Some remarks about the process:
    - when Aleph is still running during the test export, the data might not be consistent. During cutover phase, Aleph either has to be shutdown completely or set to read-only mode allowing search in Web OPAC.
    - the Oracle Data Pump might slow down your system depending on the server resources.
