    Description:
The Oracle documentation indicates that z303_ill_library accomodates up to 20 characters. However, the PLIF documentation indicates USER-REC-ILL-LIB has a limit of 5 characters, as does column 1 in ./alephe/tab/tab_sub_library.eng which would be used to define an ILL pickup location.

Is there a way to load a 6+ character z303_ill_library using the PLIF? All of our testing with Aleph ILL has been with ILL unit codes following the pattern "XXX_GLOBAL". I need to determine if that can continue in Production using the PLIF for loading the data.

    Resolution:
I find that in versions 16 and 17, the Z303-ILL-LIBRARY was 5 characters.

    v18 rep_ver 11801 made it 20:

Description: 1) Enhancment of Z303 record for ILL use.
The field Z303-ILL-LIBRARY will be enlarged to 20 charachters
    (from 5 charachters)....

but no corresponding change was ever made to the PLIF...

As noted in KB 16384-12705: "No development work will be done on PLIF flat file, only XML file."

The XML format uses "Z303-" field labels. Any Z303 field can be included in the XML-format input file. When the Z303-ILL-LIBRARY is included, it gets its length from the z303_ill_library -- which is 20 characters.

KB 16384-4545 includes a sample XML PLIF file.
