Validating web opac pages against W3C, etc.

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
I am currently working my way through the various web opac files trying to validate under the W3C validators. I have validated my aleph.css and find-b related pages against W3C CSS and W3C HTML4.01 Transitional standards. I have run up against a couple of problems with <img> links because the www_server_defaults uses a single quote when it designates anything needing quotes around them. W3C validators do not like single quotes. I have run across a similar problem in the results list where some of the links are generated on the fly resulting in ampersands in link URLs such as the ones in the table <th> where you click on the column to sort by (title, author,etc.). See example. Is there some file that I can edit to replace +set_number with +amp;set_number and other cases where an ampersand ends up in the URL within a link?

    Resolution:
The links at page short-a-head are generated by program www_f_short_a_edit.cbl. So you can't make modification to the link..
To avoid problems with both validators and browsers, always use &amp; in place of &.
