    Question

The documentation for the z34 table says that it collects information about activity between the GUI and the PC-server, and the
GUI and the www-server. We had assumed that the GUI/www-server activity was from the "View in Web" option in the
Cataloging module. However, it was discovered that there were many more "W" z34-type entries in the z34 file than
could possibly represent "View in Web" activity.

We need to confirm that we can get all of our patron use statistics from z69 and the apache access.log, and that the z34 file truly represents only GUI activity.

    Answer

The z34 table is written to only if the create_statisics setenv is set to "Y".

If the www_server.conf has create_statisics "Y", z34's are written for Web transactions.
If the pc_server_defaults has create_statisics "Y", z34's are written for pc transactions.

The z69 has superseded the z34 in 16.02-up for Web OPAC statistics. That is what should be used for the Web.

Unless the site has local scripts which read the z34 (-- which the vast majority do *not*), change the value of create_statistics in both www_server.conf and pc_server_defaults to "N" -- and do util w/3 to restart them.
