X-services: "No license for service BOR-INFO"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
After applying v18 Service Pack 1738, WWW-X BOR-AUTH and BOR-INFO transactions, such as:

    http://libserv4.abc.edu:8993/X?op=bor_auth&user_name=libtest&user_password=xxxxxx&library=abc50&id=23100000967530&verification=YYYYYY

get the following error message: "No license for service BOR-AUTH".

Similarly, the bor_info transaction gets: "No license for service BOR-INFO".

    Resolution:
The $alephe_tab/user_function.eng file was updated at 10:56 this morning. www_server_4993 had been restarted at 9:29, but was not restarted again until I did it at 16:44.

A diff of the next previous version and the updated version shows this:

    >diff user_function.eng.20080911.glm user_function.eng
    > WWW-X L X-SERVER Interface GLOBAL L All subfunctions

Thus, the pre-10:56 version lacked the WWW-X line.

I don't understand how it could have been working in this form *prior* to the application of the Service Pack -- that makes zero sense--, but anyway, I'm quite certain that this is the explanation.

Note: In a previous case at this same site, the same messages were occurring due to the lack of the "ALL-SERVICES Y" line in the $alephe_tab/license.www_x file.
