    Description

    Error message during browse when searching in a remote library.

    In addition the response time is very bad.

    Resolution

    Please check in $alephe_tab/tab_io_remote whether the remote server is added as name or IP address. It might be that it has to be the IP address. 

     

    You can check with the following command:

     

    aleph@nnnnn03(a20_1) XXX01> echo | telnet servername.de 6981 
    telnet: servernamede: Temporary failure in name resolution 
    servername.de: Host name lookup failure 

     

    In above case the server could not reached by name. When you doing the same with IP address you get a proper response

     

    aleph@nnnnn(a20_1) XXX01> echo | telnet 193.00.000.000 6981 
    Trying 193.00.000.000... 
    Connected to 193.00.000.000. 
    Escape character is '^]'. 
    Connection closed by foreign host.
