cir-23: "ORA-00001: unique constraint (XXX50.Z31_ID) violated"
- Article Type: General
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 20
Problem Symptoms:
When the cir-23 (Delete patrons) service is run for a particular sublibrary, it (correctly) deletes many patrons, but the cir-23 log has five occurrences of the following error message:
ORA-00001: unique constraint (XXX50.Z31_ID) violated
Cause:
Attempt by cir-23 to create a duplicate "scrubbed" z31_rec_key. (See Additional Information below.)
Resolution:
Since this represents just five cases in which a z31 Cash record was not scrubbed and, therefore, the patron not deleted, these five error messages can, and should, simply be ignored.
Additional Information
cir-23 deletes patron records but doesn't delete z31 cash records; it "scrubs" them -- changes the patron ID component of the z31_rec_key to "SCRxxxxxxxx" and the z31_rec_key as a whole to SCRxxxxxxxxxyyyymmddnnnnnn. The five occurrences of "unique constraint (XXX50.Z31_ID) violated" represent five cash records which could not be scrubbed in this fashion because the scrubbing would have resulted in a z31_rec_key which would have duplicated an existing z31_rec_key -- which is not permitted because the z31_re3c_key column is defined as unique.
