    Problem Symptoms:
    lsnrctl command (stop, start, or status) results in message:
    SP2-0734: unknown command beginning "lsnrctl st..." - rest of line ignored.

    Cause:
    Command was being entered as an SQL command.

    Resolution:
    Perform the command from the unix command line as the oracle user, that is, do "sudo su - oracle" or "su - oracle" and enter the command. Do *not* do sqlplus or "s+".

    Additional Information

    Once Aleph has been installed the listener can be controlled via util o/2 ("Oracle Listener").
