merge_doc_replace: can fields other than CAT be saved?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
I added an "MREP" line to tab_merge, which calls merge_doc_replace. But I'm not sure what to put in column 3. Does it really make any difference? Won't merge_doc_replace overwrite everything except CAT by definition? Or can you actually save other fields as well by creating a new merge set?

    Resolution:
As stated in the tab_merge header, merge_doc_replace replaces the contents of first record with the second, but saves all CAT fields from the existing record. There is no way, using merge_doc_replace, to save other fields. The only fields saved are the CAT fields.

The tab_merge column 3 is not read or used by merge_doc_replace.
