    Description:
When we run cir-17 the holds are deleted from the Item, but not the Patron. We have patron records with long expired hold requests that were never filled, and we have just been deleting them manually. If it helps, we are currently on v.18.

Can anyone provide us with any insight on how to automatically delete these expired hold requests from the patron's record?

    Resolution:
    Is this a "Title hold"?

If not, then when the z37 hold request for this item by this patron is deleted, it should no longer appear under either the item or the patron.

If it *is* a Title hold, then, though the z37 hold request for this specific item is deleted, the z370 title hold request may still be active. (If Z37-REQUEST-TYPE = "T" then the b_cir_17_c program calls "delete_title_request_by_hold" ... rather than "io_z37, F-DELETE.)

The z370 will be deleted by delete_title_request_by_hold only if *all* of the z37 hold requests for this title/patron have been deleted.
