p_cir_52: third overdue notice not working [case 2]

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
We don't understand why the third overdue notice isn't working. We ran cir-52 at 11:51 for the third notices from CFSAN. Patron with name of Burger, Patricia should have been captured in this third notice but she was not.

    Resolution:
We see that Burger, Patricia is patron ID928:

    abc50@ALEPH0> select z303_rec_key from z303 where z303_name like 'Burger%Patricia%';
**** Hit return to continue ****

    Z303_REC_KEY
    ------------
    ID928

And that patron ID928 has one item on loan:

    abc50@ALEPH0> select z36_rec_key from z36 where z36_id like 'ID928%';
**** Hit return to continue ****

    Z36_REC_KEY
    ---------------
    000034056000010

And this is the loan record for item 34056-10:

    02 z36_rec_key \
    03 doc_number ................000034056
    03 item_sequence .............000010
    02 z36_id ......................ID928
    02 z36_number ..................000000396
    02 z36_material ................BOOKS
    02 z36_sub_library .............CFSAN
    02 z36_status ..................A
    02 z36_loan_date ...............20081027
    02 z36_loan_hour ...............1243
    02 z36_effective_due_date ......00000000
    02 z36_due_date ................20081126
    02 z36_due_hour ................2400
    02 z36_returned_date ...........00000000
    02 z36_returned_hour ...........0000
    02 z36_item_status .............01
    02 z36_bor_status ..............01
    02 z36_letter_number ...........02
    02 z36_letter_date .............20110118
    02 z36_no_renewal ..............0

and, since z36_letter_number=02, that the relevant line in the abc50 tab32 is this:

    ##### ## ## 02 030 030 O

Since z36_letter_date=2011-01-18, it would seem that this item would have been third-notice-eligible as of 20110217 (20110118 + 30). But since you are specifying Interval Calculation Method 2 ("Net Days") in the p_cir_52 submission, only open days are used in calculating the interval. The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and there were only 26 open days between the last notice for item 34056-10 (on 2011-01-18) and the run of p_cir_52 last night.

Thus, 34056-10 was actually *not* eligible for a third notice when p_cir_52 was run last night.
