    p_file_98 doesn't load records it should; "I/O error : file 'TP2'"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
I was contacted by a staff member in acquisitions that she ran p-file-98 (BNA record loader), but when she tries to find one of the titles in the GUI it is not there. Once before when she had this problem, it was due to the file not being located in the data scratch directory of the NDU01 library. I checked and the files are there. It looks as though Aleph was processing the files, but what I don't know is where to find or what the names of the log files are for this process. I was trying to pull up some information from the EL documentation portal, but it was hanging.

    Resolution:
The log of p_file_98 is in $alephe_scratch. The most recent run is ndu01_p_file_98.00614.

    It contains the following lines:

    setenv p_def_file_name "ban_tab_def"

    I/O error : file 'TP2'
    error code: 3/5 (ANS85), pc=0, call=1, seg=0
    13 File not found

As we can see from this line in the $aleph_proc/p_file_98, "TP2" is the def_file:

    setenv dd_TP2 ${data_tab}/import/$def_file

and should be in the ndu01 $data_tab/import/ directory. Looking in that directory, there is no ban_tab_def file. (It's tab_bna_def.)

Resubmit the job with the correct p_def_file_name.

Note: site found that two records were loaded despite this problem. we suggested that they delete these records with GUI Cataloging left-hand-tree "Total delete" before re-running p_file_98.
