    Description:
p_manage_15: What does it do? How often should we run it?

    Resolution:
When you update a BIB field that is indexed in one of the browse (acc) indexes (author, title, subject, etc.), the original form of the heading continues to appear in the index when viewed in the Cataloging module.

Since the old form of the heading no longer appears in the BIB record, you will get the message "There are no records associated with this heading ." when you try to select (click on) one of these headings in GUI Cataloging.

Some sites find the retention of these old forms useful for a period of time, and therefore only run manage-15 periodically. Other sites see them as noise and like to run p-manage-15 on a daily basis. This is a local workflow issue.

    Two things to note:
    1) These old forms of the heading do NOT show up in the Web OPAC.
    2) The authority browse index doesn't retain the old form of the heading. The old form is removed and the new form added.
