p_manage_17 cycle size; number of cycles

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
I find (in the p_manage_17.cycles file) that the p_manage_17 cycles are huge: over 3 million records each.

I don't find any p_manage_17 entry in the $data_root/prof_library file.

    Can this be specified?

    Resolution:
p_manage_17 is reading z01 records rather than z00. There are usually 10 - 20 times as many z01's as z00's.

Unlike most of the other index jobs, the p_manage_17 does not use a prof_library setenv.

The number of cycles for p_manage_17 is always twice the number of processes: (number of processes) * 2.

    Say there are 40,000,000 z01's:
If there are 5 processes, there will be 10 cycles of 40,000 records each.
If there are 9 processes*, there will be 18 cycles....

*In version 17-up, there can be up to 20 processes.

    Additional Information

    p_manage_17, cycles, prof_library
