    Description:
Page 22 of the Course Reading Systems Librarian guide says to run p_union_04 about every 2 hours or so via job_list. However, there are no parms - just XXX30.

I tested this job yesterday, and it ran for at least 2 hours. Our xxx30 doc numbers don't start until 010000000. Is there any way to specify starting at that number, or increase the number of processes it runs? Or was the length of time it took just because it's the first time we've run union_04 and we can expect future runs to be shorter?

    Resolution:
p_union_04 reads each z120. You could try deleting the xxx30 z120's which are below the first xxx30 doc record. (You should try this on test.)

If that doesn't work for some reason, I would note that the function of p_union_04 is to group doc records for the same title but different courses under a "preferred" record, so that the title will display just one time in the brief list, and when the user clicks on the Full, they will see all the courses that this title is linked to.

I *believe* that the effect of having a new z120 which has not been processed by p_union_04 is for that title for this course to display as as separate entry in the brief list (in addition to the existing preferred record, if there is more than one doc/course for this title). Please test this.

Assuming that this is the case, then I think that there is no need to run p_union_04 every two hours; once per day should be sufficient.
