set_number's: what are they? how assigned?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
The "set_number"s which we see in the www_server_m log just keep going up. What are these numbers and what determines their assignment?

    Resolution:
The set_number you see in the www_server_m log corresponds to a z05_rec_key.

The system uses the LAST_NUMBER in the vir01 last_result_set sequence record to assign the z05 key / set_number. (To see what this is currently, do "select * from ALL_SEQUENCES;" )

The clear_vir01 procedure includes this line: $aleph_proc/util_a_17_b sequence all which drops/recreates the vir01 sequences (last_result_set and last_z34_sequence). It doesn't seem that there is any special problem with not doing this and letting the last_result_set number keep going up -- except perhaps at the point where it would want to wrap?
