v20 SP 2417: Change/Restore Item Information leaves item status null

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
We have installed Aleph 20 Service Pack #2417 on our test server.

If an item is assigned temporary changes through Circulation's Change Item Information and then the changes are Restored, the item status is completely removed from the item. The item status displays as blank. And SQL has confirmed that the z30-item-status value for these items is now null. The item functions as expected while the changes are present but after the changes are removed by restoring, the item status is set to a null value.

The same happens with USM50 items assigned temporary locations in Circulation.

If the temporary changes are completely assigned in Cataloging, there is no problem.

Furthermore, the items on our test server that were assigned a temporary location in Circulation via Change Item Information before the installation of the Service Pack function properly as well. It is only items that are assigned the changes with the service pack installed that cause problems after the changes are restored.

    Resolution:
This problem was introduced with v20 Service Pack 2417 and is corrected by the versions of the ./com/store_adm_item and ./com/restore_adm_item programs in rep_change 2488, included in the May, 2010, Service Pack 2539.

If you have Service Pack 2417, we strongly encourage you to implement this new Service Pack 2539 before assigning temporary locations to items in Circulation. Note: If the temporary item information was stored before SP 2417 was applied, there is no problem.
