    Description

When loading users from an external system using the Cloud App "Alma CSV User Load" the error "Failed: The external id in DB does not fit the given value in xml - external id cannot be updated." appears for some users while some records are imported correctly. The external ID is the code of the original system, e.g. SIS.

    Resolution

The problem happens when the settings for the Cloud App contain information like …

… and when the existing user in Alma has a different external id. The problem can be solved by deleting the setting from the Cloud App.

The external id can be extracted either from Analytics OR can be found on a user record in Alma under "Owner" [here: 11]:

The external identifier in Alma can't be changed.
