The German National Bibliographic Center DNB (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) has announced that as of 16 June 2020 the GND (Gemeinsame Normdatei) Name Authorities marked as type N will no longer be supported and will be removed from the GND authority files.

Prior to this removal DNB will modify several thousand of these Name Authorities of type N to Personal Name Authorities of type P. The modifications to type P will be part of the ongoing GND updates that are reflected daily in the Alma Community Zone.

In order to align with these upcoming changes, Ex Libris is taking the following actions:

    • Removing all GND Name Authorities of type N from the Alma Community Zone.
    • Proactively unlinking all Bibliographic records linked to GND Name Authorities of type N (for customers using these Authorities)
      • The unlinking process will not trigger relinking to Authorities or publishing of unlinked records to Primo.

These changes will take place in the weeks following the updates from GND. The process is intended to be seamless to those using the GND Authorities. No additional actions should be required from customers.

Ex Libris will update the relevant customers when the process starts and when it is completed.
