Import job sends "completed with errors" notification email but job is not listed in profile's Job History

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Alma

    Question

I have just noticed that sometimes Alma sends a "completed with errors" notification email but the job in questions doesn't appear in the Import Profile's Job History.
The import job does appear in the Monitor Jobs / History tab though.
I thought that maybe this notification is generated when there were no files to collect. But during the Christmas period, there were no files placed on the server during the period 25/12/2014 - 4/1/2015 inclusive. However, looking through my emails for the period the only day when an email "completed with errors" notification was sent was 31/12/2014.
If you can explain things for me I could appreciate it.

    Answer

The error notifiction is generated when the import job failed due to failed connection to the vendor's FTP server. When there are no files to collect, the import job doesn't fail but it completes successfully with the job report saying "Total number of files downloaded: 0".

For a scheduled MD_Import ftp jobs Alma actually runs two processes, first is the FTP and after it successfully completes, the MD_Import is invoked.
In other words: when the first fails, the second is not running at all.

The Monitor jobs / History tab shows ALL JOBS, so the FTP part will appear there (with status Completed with errors) while the job history of the Import profile is filtered to MD_Import jobs.

This is the reason why in cases where the FTP part failed, the import job won't appear in the job history of the Import profile but only in the Monitor jobs / History tab.
