I am trying to publish a digital collection from the IZ and publishing is done in the Network Zone. Do I need to setup a publishing profile in the IZ in order for this to work?

No, you do not need to set up a publishing profile in the IZ.

After you have created a collection and added records to it (NZ-linked or IZ only), the records should be marked for publishing and publishing will be done in the NZ. The published records will be updated automatically with the Collection information.
